ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A woman is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a youth football organization, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that Heather Hinton, 43, is charged with illegal transmission of monetary funds, bank fraud, and theft over $25,000.

According to APSO, $42,202.40 was stolen from the South Louisiana Youth Football Association. Deputies said that Hinton allegedly stole the money while serving as a treasurer for a local affiliate group within the youth football organization.

An investigation was launched on Saturday, August 9, after members of the South Louisiana Youth Football Association reached out to detectives.
