STRONGSVILLE, Ohio -- The City of Berea decided in June to leave the Southwest Emergency Dispatch Center in Strongsville and join the North Olmsted dispatch center, Berea Police Chief Dan Clark told cleveland.com Monday.
One significant reason for the change involved budgeting: North Olmsted let Berea know exactly how much it would cost to receive dispatch services each year through 2028.
In contrast, since Berea joined Southwest dispatch in 2015, Strongsville’s annual fees to the communities it serves have fluctuated more unpredictably.
“With Strongsville, it was difficult to plan ahead,” Clark said. “We wouldn’t find out until the end of the year what we were paying the following year.
