Evansville child molester likely to spend the rest of his life in prison

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A convicted child molester in Evansville will most likely spend the rest of his life inside a jail cell.

61-year-old Jeffrey Scott Wagner was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Tuesday at the Posey Circuit Court.

The prosecutor says Wagner was previously found guilty after a four-day jury trial on two child molesting charges.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the jury heard evidence at trial from two children who described how Wagner sexually abused them when they were under the age of 10 years old.

After hearing arguments from prosecutors and defense, the judge allegedly decided that Wagner’s sentence should be aggravated.
