EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Businesses in Downtown East Lansing are very excited for the college school year to start, because more people in the area means more money.
East Lansing is a college town, housing Michigan State University, which means summer is slow for businesses. Students are starting to return for the new school year, and stores and restaurants are eager to welcome the new customers.
The Peanut Barrel is a well-known restaurant in the heart of downtown East Lansing. Owner Mike Krueger said summertime means money-saving time.
"It's not nearly as busy as it is during the school year," Krueger continued. "It's been rough, but we kind of expect it as this point so we're just trying to figure out ways to survive."
