On one of the last sunny days of summer break, kids let out their energy at the new Fruit Valley Park playground, named in honor of a mother and community leader .
The city hosted a grand opening Saturday for the new inclusive Elizabeth Austin Playground, 3200 Fruit Valley Road.
Austin, who died in 2021, was an advocate for inclusive spaces and dedicated time to education, philanthropy and community connection, according to a city news release.
The park is fully fenced. Its accessible play equipment includes a zip linelike swing. Other options include slides, a rope climber, play mounds and a water feature.
“There’s a little of everything for all ages and it’s adaptive, all-inclusive,” Laura Adrian of Felida said.
Adrian brought her kids Lainey, 3, and Brooks Adrian, 5, to the park
