At six-feet, 210 pounds, Permian running back Gavin Black is hard to miss.

He’s even harder to tackle.

After a strong 2024 season, the senior offensive standout is ready for more as he prepares for one last fall with the Panthers.

Last year, Black ended up compiling 2,375 yards and 31 touchdowns rushing, helping Permian to an 8-4 showing which an included a run to the area round of the Class 6A Div. I state playoffs.

He’s hoping for more this year.

“I’m really excited,” Black said. “It’s my last year playing high school football and then it’s college from there.”

Black is one of seven returning starters for the Panthers’ offense this year which is a good starting point for any team that is coming off an eight-win season.
