CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Energy drinks have exploded in popularity recently, especially among kids.
Experts say energy drinks have been replacing soda and pop in popularity for youngsters, their popularity far from fizzing out.
“Definitely, in adolescence, energy drinks are becoming more popular,” Jennifer Hyland, a Pediatric Registered Dietitian at Cleveland Clinic. “They’re so widely available on the shelves, they’re pretty, they’re colorful, they’re right there next to the soda.”
But many health professionals urge parents to slam on the breaks and monitor kids’ intake of the high-octane beverages, some with three times the caffeine of an eight-ounce cup of coffee,
