NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities have identified a woman killed after a Monday shooting on Interstate 26.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece said 52-year-old Rose Kewlani, of West Columbia, was shot in the area of Exit 82 on Monday.
The alleged shooter, 45-year-old Wilfrido George Luna, was later arrested and charged with murder.
The Newberry County Sheriff’s office said Luna allegedly shot Kewlani and then fled across both lanes of the interstate toward the Mid Carolina Country Club after allegedly attempting to carjack a nearby tractor-trailer truck.
“We’re trying to decipher how the tractor-trailer truck was involved in it; he had nothing to do with it. The suspect flagged him down,” Foster said.
Foster noted that Luna was apprehended in the country club’s parking lot af
