A fire at the Westshore Terminals in Delta has forced a 10-week closure at one of its berths.
The company said the fire at Berth 1 is expected to reduce the terminal’s 2025 cargo volumes, while operations will continue at Berth 2 continue.
The fire broke out Saturday on the shiploader that services Berth 1. Fire crews extinguished the blaze safely, and no injuries were reported, according to Sunday’s announcement from Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation (TSX: WTE).
Berth 1’s 10-week decommissioning will allow repairs to the mechanical and electrical systems, the company said.
Westshore said it will provide an update on the duration of the outage after it performs a detailed inspection and confirms the time to source replacement parts or materials.
