RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - After 113 years in Richmond and three years at the Valentine History Museum, the controversial statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis is being temporarily moved to Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, the eight foot, 1,500 lb. statue was removed from it’s platform at the Valentine. It’s now moving Los Angeles as apart of the ‘Monuments’ exhibit which will feature confederate statues from around the country.

“They’re really sort of exploring the ways in which art can be used to contextualize this moment in history with so many confederate monuments being pulled down,” Christina Vida, with The Valentine, said.

This move comes more five years after the statue was spray painted and torn down by protestors on July 10, 2020.
