CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - 12 On Your Side first told you about a Chesterfield woman whose home was overrun with dead bats in July.

And after our investigation, her landlord agreed to release her from the lease, but stopped short of meeting her other demands.

It was then that Leticia Smith decided to take the fight to court.

“People have been by to see me they’ve smelt it they’ve seen it and they know for a fact it was not a good living situation,” Smith said.

Nothing about the past six months for Leticia Smith has been easy. Living with the awful stench of dead bats, and then pleading with the landlord to fix the issue and release her from the lease.
