VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) -- Two men were shot and killed in Vallejo's Crest neighborhood on Monday night, prompting a police investigation into the double homicide. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Amelia Street, where one victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other succumbed to injuries at a local hospital.

"Two people did lose their lives and one life is one life too many," said Sergeant Rashad Hollis of the Vallejo Police Department.

Family and friends of the victims have asked for privacy as they clean the driveway where the shooting took place. Neighbors reported hearing rapid gunfire, with one describing it as lasting about five seconds.
