VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — More than two years after the death of a 5-month-old in Evansville, the child’s father is once again facing charges.

33-year-old Javontae Goldsby was arrested Monday night after charges were filed in a case from 2023.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Goldsby and the child’s mother, Cheyenne Elmore-Sitz, called 911 on July 26th, 2023, to report their child had been found in its crib not breathing.

After first responders restored the baby’s pulse, it was taken to the hospital and placed on a ventilator. Shortly after that, the baby was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis, where it was on life support until its death on August 4th, 2023.
