GRAYVILLE, Ill. (WEVV) — A southern Illinois man is facing animal cruelty charges after being accused of killing several puppies by placing them in a cooler and closing the lid.

Authorities say 39-year-old Tyrel Linder of Grayville was arrested in the investigation.

Court documents show Linder is accused of placing six puppies in a cooler, closing the lid, and leaving it for "several hours," killing all of them.

Records show Linder is facing six felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

Linder had his first appearance in court on Monday and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 8. He's being held in the White County Jail.
