After a leg of the third annual Spinning Wheels Tour 2025 brought the team to Lacombe on Aug. 15, the group stopped in Ponoka for a game of pickleball.

The cycling tour's slogan is "Pedalling for Parkinson's" and spans 10 provinces, three coasts and 45 days of spinning wheels.

Parkinson's Canada and Parkinson's Alberta member Brendan McGlynn of Rocky Mountain House said it was his idea to try adding pickleball games in, or near, the small communities the tour went through as a way to connect with more people.

"When you're on the bike, you don't talk to anyone," said McGlynn.

The night before, the group played in Olds as well. So far, they've had a good reception.

"They gave us a great welcome," said McGlynn.
