GRAND CANYON NORTH RIM, AZ (AZFamily) — More sections of the Kaibab National Forest will reopen Tuesday, as firefighters continue to gain containment on the Dragon Bravo Fire that has been burning near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon since early July.

The wildfire has burned 144,991 acres since it started on July 4, and is 62% contained.

Fire crews say they’ve noticed a good change in the fire’s burning behavior and are shifting their focus from fire suppression to suppression repair.

The U.S. Forest Service said they are reopening roads that connect the Jacob Lake area and Timp Point.

The fire crews say favorable conditions during the last few days have helped lower fire intensity in many areas, and it has helped crews increase containment.
