KINTYRE, N.D. (KFYR) - Farmers who employ legal temporary foreign nationals, often for agricultural work in North Dakota, are worried about the future of their workforce.

Taylor Grunefelder, like many farmers in the state, is always hard at work and could use any help he can get. On a good day, he has the help of H-2A visa workers. He’s used their services for the past five years and said it’s a struggle to find enough quality employees.

“If we weren’t able to get these guys, our family life would pretty much not exist, and we’re back to trying to do it all ourselves,” said Grunefelder.

H-2A is a federal program that allows U.S. farmers to hire foreign seasonal agricultural workers when they cannot find enough citizens to do the job.
