PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland couple says a string of bad luck following a winter storm has left them without homeowners’ insurance and struggling to find another policy.
It started in January of last year, when a severe storm slammed into Shu-Ju Wang and Mike Coleman’s home in the West Portland Park neighborhood. Ice and wind brought down massive branches and trees , crashing through their ceiling and smashing the floor.
“One of the trees took out the water line, so we had water gushing downstairs,” said Wang. “We had water damage upstairs and downstairs.”
Fearing for their own safety, the couple packed up and left their home. While they were gone, burglars broke in.
“You can’t secure the house. It’s got trees cutting through it and everything,” Coleman said. “And it’s probably a real
