A 32-year-old man was critically injured with severe burns suffered Tuesday in a fire that also injured a dog at a triplex in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called at 4:04 a.m. to 1818 S. Arapahoe St., north of Washington Boulevard, where they found flames coming from one unit at a triplex, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

The fire was put out in 13 minutes, she said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Lantz said.

“Though an electric scooter was located on scene, it has not been identified as the cause of the blaze,” she said. “Additionally, one pet dog was rescued from the unit of origin, resuscitated with oxygen therapy on scene, and survived.”
