CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia State Auditor Mark Hunt is touting a re-negotiated contract he says will save taxpayers millions of dollars.
The office works with OpenGov, a software company aimed at improving government operations and increasing transparency.
Hunt says their yearly fee with that company was set to increase in October from $4 million to $4.3 million.
“We just said we’re paying too much money,” he said. “We took a strong, hard look at it.”
Hunt enlisted the help of West Virginia businessman Chris Miller to look into alternative options to help them renegotiate.
Miller said he researched systems being used by states around West Virginia and others.
