ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) - Statistics show only one percent of couples reach their 75th wedding anniversary, and we have one of them right here in our region.

Charles and Joyce Sorrell, who are from Ashland, are celebrating their 75th anniversary on Tuesday.

Charles is 96 and Joyce is 91. We got together with the happy couple to hear their secret of longevity and wedded bliss 75 years later.

Charles Sorrell is the first to admit, he loves and good meal – and dessert, always dessert. But the true love of his life is always right by his side.

“Not newlyweds, but I feel like we have a good, strong marriage,” Charles said.

For Joyce Sorrell, the feeling is mutual.

“I always teased him and told him that I chased him until he caught me,” she said.

And that’s the way it’s been for 75 years now.
