(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in South Sacramento on Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff's office said the shooting happened at around 4:30 p.m. at the 5900 block of 39th Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

SCSO stated the victim is believed to be a man, but it is unknown how old he is.

At this time, it is unknown what caused the shooting.
