(FOX40.COM) -- Shasta Elementary School in Chico was placed on lockdown after a possible safety threat on Tuesday afternoon. • Video Above: How to report a public safety threat?
Around 3:09 p.m. on Tuesday, the Chico Police Department said it was responding to a call for service in the area of Shasta Elementary School and Chico Eye Center near Nord Highway.
Out of an abundance of caution, the school has been placed on a lockdown, according to CPD.
"We ask that you please avoid the area and use caution while officials are on scene," CPD said.
About 20 minutes later, at 3:30 p.m., the lockdown was lifted.
It is unclear what CPD was responding to.
