TUFTONBORO, N.H. —

The operator of a 12-foot boat was not injured after being thrown off, causing the boat to run away on Lake Winnipesaukee.

New Hampshire State Police - Marine Patrol said the wake from another boat struck the small boat, causing the operator to be thrown off.

The operator was not wearing an engine cutoff switch lanyard which is required, Marine Patrol said. The operator was warned about not properly wearing the lanyard.

Isaac McKenzie, the owner, operator and captain of the US Mail boat in Wolfeboro said he was at the tail end of the mail run getting into the mouth of Winter Harbor over by Tuftonboro Neck and they saw the boat spinning in circles and a person in the water.
