HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - Perry County Sheriff Alan Malone announced his retirement in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon.

According to the post, Sheriff Malone made the decision to retire after serving for 10 years as the sheriff of Perry County. He stated his decision was made due to personal reasons and the political atmosphere.

"To my supporters over the last 10 years, thank you for believing in me," Sheriff Malone wrote in his post. "I have always said, pick a party and once you're elected, do the right thing for Perry County, not just for a party. I truly believe that is what I have done."
