Traffic was rerouted on the Surrey-Delta border Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 19) as fire ripped through a house at the corner of 116 Street and 96 Avenue.

Firefighters from both cities battled a fire that heavily damaged a home, at around 3:30 p.m.

The fire appears to have started on the porch at the rear of the house, according to a freelance photographer on the scene.

Neighbours said they heard an explosion when the fire started, and a BBQ propane tank could be seen on the deck.

No injuries were reported, according to the freelancer.

Traffic was diverted in the area as fire crews worked. Video is shown on the 1st Due Media channel on Youtube .
