SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Polls opened on Tuesday for voters to decide between two finalists for Spartanburg County Sheriff.
Retired State Trooper Bill Rhyne and current County Coroner Rusty Clevenger are both vying to be county’s top lawman and the first new sheriff in two decades after former Sheriff Chuck Wright stepped down in May .

Just after 8 p.m., Clevenger confirmed that he concedes before all votes had been tallied making Rhyne the projected winner.
Clevenger released the following statement:
Early voting wrapped up with nearly 4,000 people casting their vote. On Tuesday, nearly 29,000 nearly 29,000 people voted.
