SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Polls opened at 7 a.m. on Tuesday for voters to decide between two finalists for Spartanburg County Sheriff.
Retired State Trooper Bill Rhyne and current County Coroner Rusty Clevenger are both vying to be county’s top lawman and the first new sheriff in two decades after former Sheriff Chuck Wright stepped down in May .
Early voting wrapped up with nearly 4,000 people casting their vote ahead of Tuesday’s runoff election.
Polls will be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The runoff is for the Republican primary candidates, however no Democratic challenger has filed. The winner will appear on the ballot for the special election in November.
