TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Cholla High received a $10,000 donation from Tucson Subaru and AdoptAClassroom.org on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Twenty teachers were surprised with boxes of supplies, each of which included a $500 gift card.
Staci Jan Worthman, the AVID teacher and coordinator at Cholla, said the supplies will make an impact on her students.
“Perfection is everything when it comes down to their experience,” she said. “Even sticky notes -- they’re so grateful and gracious for that, and these are the simple things that they should have.”
According to a study by AdoptAClassroom.org that surveyed about 3,700 people, Arizona teachers spend an average of $864 each year of their own money on school supplies.
