TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The University of Arizona is welcoming more than 7,000 students to campus this week, and move-in began Tuesday for first-year students.

Among the swaths of people unloading cars and filling up moving carts, the Montgomery family was taking inventory.

They traveled more than 2,000 miles from Massachusetts to move their son, Finlay, into his dorm. His room was on the second floor, and without an elevator, they had to carry every bag up the stairs.

“Each of these bags weighs 60-65 pounds, so it’ll be a good weight workout for today,” said Finlay’s dad, Larkin.

The 18-year-old freshman will be studying chemical engineering, but said the university appealed to him for other reasons.
