The Emporia Metropolitan Planning Commission approved both the Final Plat and Final Planned Unit Development (PUD) for Cedarbrook Meadows, a 38-acre residential and commercial development, during its monthly meeting Tuesday evening.

The decision follows the Emporia City Commission’s decision to override the previous Planning Commission recommendation and approve the Preliminary PUD during its last meeting. In its December meeting, the Planning Commission conditionally approved the preliminary PUD, with the recommendation that the original minimum lot size of 6,000 square feet be increased to 7,000. Professional Engineering Consultants, who represent the developers of the project, went to the City Commission with a minimum lot size of 6,200 feet, which was approved.
