WINONA, Texas (KETK) -- Winona Independent School District welcomed students back to class on Tuesday under the new leadership of Superintendent Justin Cowart.
Cowart, who brings over 20 years of experience in education, aims to enhance the district's performance with a focus on increasing enrollment, boosting student involvement and improving testing scores.
"We're standing at about 1,125 students, we're up about 50 students from last year," Cowart said, highlighting the district's growth.
Cowart noted that over the past three years, enrollment has increased by 150 students, which he finds encouraging as it indicates a growing interest in the district.
