COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Over one million people in Georgia rely on the federal food assistance program SNAP or food stamps, including a local mom we talked to that’s having some issues.
Many Georgians are unable to use the benefit because those assistance programs were hacked and people are not able to buy food for their families.
News leader 9 spoke with spoke to a single mother on a fixed income who cares for her disabled child, She tells me without her SNAP benefits she’s forced to rely on the church pantry and her friends for food.
“We only used it twice. We got into August and our date for it to reload is August seventh. We went out on August Seventh and the card had a zero balance.” says Columbus resident Regina Liparoto
