JONESBORO — According to the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, an alleged serial killer recently pleaded guilty to two 2020 murders.
According to a Tuesday, Aug. 19 press release from the DA’s Office, Edward Cherry pleaded guilty to two counts of malice murder, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, kidnapping and hijacking.
Clayton County Superior Court Judge Jewel Scott sentenced Cherry to life plus 10 years.
According to information from the DA’s Office, Cherry shot and killed Shakai Gordon on March 31, 2020, whom he met on a dating app.
The DA’s Office said an investigation led to officers discovering a cell phone where Cherry bragged about killing Gordon because of his sexual orientation.
On April 3, 2020, Cherry shot and killed Lydia
