Nominations for the Georgia Trust for Historical Preservation’s 2026 Places in Peril list close on Sept. 1.

“If you know a historic place, community or cultural landmark—that’s in danger of being lost, your nomination could be the first step in saving it,” a statement from the Georgia Trust for Historical Preservation read.

Nominations to the list serve several purposes, including: 


— Raising awareness of endangered sites.

— Opening doors to partnerships and resources.

— Mobilize community support for preservation.

The Georgia Trust Places in Peril program identifies historic sites facing threats like demolition, neglect, lack of maintenance, inappropriate development or insensitive public policy.
