WATERVILLE -- The Waterville City Council voted to pass a temporary moratorium that would freeze mobile home park lot rents for 6 months.

That temporary moratorium passed six to zero in it's first vote. It will be revisited during the council's next meeting on September 2nd, as councilors explain moratoriums must be voted on twice.

As written, the moratorium would freeze mobile home park lot rent, preventing it from going up until March. This is after a proposed 20% rent increase that was set to take place October 1st of this year. That hike follows a 22% rent increase from the previous year.
