UNION, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Union City Council unanimously voted on Tuesday to pass a resolution on a wastewater treatment plant.

The Tosch Creek wastewater treatment plant will cost $3 million.

The City of Union’s utilities department previously released a statement on Aug. 10 saying that they are “actively taking steps” to alleviate residents’ concerns over PFAs related compounds (also known as forever chemicals) in drinking water.

The EPA gave the city a 2031 deadline to lower the amount of chemicals in the water.

Officials said the city is continuing its PFAs elimination efforts by being proactive and doing three pilot studies at the water filtration plant. Over $1 million have been spent on the studies so far.
