GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Erin has weakened to a Category 2 hurricane. Erin is expected to stay at category 2 through Friday.
Erin has tropical storm force winds stretching out over 200 miles from the center. The entire wind field of Erin stretches over 500 miles. Because of the large wind field, tropical storm conditions will scrape the Outer Banks of North Carolina with wind, coastal flooding and beach erosion.
EVACUATIONS FOR PARTS OF THE OUTER BANKS
Large swells from the massive storm will spread toward the coast of the Carolinas this week. Wave heights upward of 10 feet are possible near the South Carolina coast and upward of 15 feet off the coast of North Carolina. Life threatening surf and risk for rip currents is going to be a major concern through at least Thursday.
