LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech PhD candidate, Pradeep Kumar, has focused his research on improving droughts resistance through sorghum genetics.

Kumar's family farms sorghum in Rajasthan, India. They have personally has witnessed the devastation rainfall shortages play in crop production. Kumar has dedicated his education to address the international problem.

By receiving the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR) Fellowship, Kumar now has the resources to continue his research across West Texas and Kansas.

The commodity is a big player here in the U.S., "United States is the top producer in the world for grain sorghum" Kumar said.
