LUBBOCK, Texas -- The TexLa Tele-Health Resource Center over at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) received a $1.3 million grant from the federal government to put toward telehealth. Dr. Ariel Santos with TTUHSC explained what exactly that technology was.
"So, telemedicine is a way of seeking medical health virtually, you know through the virtual platform, so you don't need to go to Lubbock for medical care," Dr. Santos said.
TTUHSC would receive the grant in increments over the next four years, getting about $325 thousand each year. Dr. Santos described how this money would improve their technology.
"There's a lot of technology now, which we call wearables or remote patient monitoring. We're promoting this to improve care on the patient, especially on people with chronic di
