Back in 2012, the Vans Warped Tour rolled into Star Lake with Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, We the Kings, Streetlight Manifesto, Anti-Flag and, you know, about 60 other bands.

The most potent band of the day played on a small stage to about 50 people. It was a ferocious LA punk band called Dead Sara, led by singer Emily Armstrong, described in the review as “a rock star through and through.”

A little over a decade later, here she is in the unlikely scenario of fronting a band that’s nothing like Dead Sara but is more popular by magnitudes. The would be Linkin Park, the nu metal band that made the bold decision in 2023 to regroup six years after the death of beloved singer Chester Bennington and without drummer Rob Bourdon, who wanted “distance” from the band.
