FARGO — The West Fargo Sheyenne boys soccer team likely would've been pleased with a draw in its first game of the season as the Mustangs shake off the offseason rust.
Markus Podliska had something else in mind.
The senior's 65th-minute goal ended a lengthy stalemate and ultimately gave Sheyenne a 2-1 road win over Fargo Davies on Tuesday in the Eastern Dakota Conference opener for both teams.
Podliska's shot from the box beat Davies goalkeeper Kenny Biewer to break a 1-1 deadlock that spanned 43 minutes.
"Honestly, I got that solid ball and I just hit it and I was hoping that it was going to go in," Podliska said. "And it went in and it was the best feeling ever."
