FARGO — The Fargo Davies football team has no intention of changing its identity this season.

Hard-nosed, smashmouth, physical football. After all, it was that style that allowed the Eagles to soar to a 10-2 record and Dakota Bowl appearance in 2024.

“You need to play physical to win games,” said first-team senior lineman Jason Hunter. “That’s what (head coach Wayne Werremeyer) prides us on. He prides us on being physical every play and we will not be out-physicalled by any team or out-conditioned.”

Like any successful football program, everything begins in the trenches for Davies. It’s why the Eagles put three linemen — one offensive and two defensive — on the first team all-state list last season.

That includes Hunter on the defensive line and Gus Werremeyer on the offensive line. Bo
