AMHERST, NY — In the midst of the comment period for its light rail transit (LRT) expansion to Amherst, the NFTA heard mixed reactions from the public Tuesday night during a public hearing.

Hundreds turned out for what evolved into a lively discussion between NFTA officials, few supporters of the project and dozens upon dozens of detractors.

On Monday, the NFTA released the results of a Sienna Poll that touted 72% of the public support the 7-mile LRT extension from UB South campus, along Niagara Falls Blvd., Maple and Sweet Home Roads, through UB North campus and terminating near the 990.
