TAYLORSVILLE — The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food issued an advisory Tuesday while investigating a Norovirus outbreak linked to frozen oysters.

In a press release, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall of Korean frozen half-shell oysters in July.

“ UDAF is expanding this recall to include all oysters from this area harvested through August 6, 2025,” the press release stated.

According to the press release, symptoms come within 12-48 hours of exposure and include:

Nausea

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Stomach cramps

Fever and headache (in some cases)

The UDAF said recovery time can be 1–3 days, but vulnerable groups, such as young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems, may experience more severe illness.
