WILMINGTON, N.C. – Three firefighters are recovering after a gas line explosion rocked Wilmington on Tuesday. Investigators say a car plowed into gas lines for a building under construction. Fire crews were already evacuating the site when the explosion happened.

Police say the driver who caused the crash took off, but was later arrested. Investigators say there are signs the driver may have been drunk or high.
