CLEVELAND, Ohio - A large section of the Columbus Peninsula in the Flats could soon become the site of a new mixed-use development, but that doesn’t mean recognizable buildings, such as the old Grain Craft silos and the former home of Catanese Classics seafoods, will go away.
The Cleveland Metroparks and a new development partner are planning to seek state of Ohio historic tax credits that could involve preserving those buildings and others in developing 4.29 acres.
This is largely riverfront property the Metroparks has acquired between its Merwin’s Wharf restaurant and the Center Street (Swing) Bridge.
The Metroparks is to retain a 30-foot strip along the riverbank to create a public trail linking Settlers Landing near the Center Street Bridge to Rivergate Park beside the Columbus Road
