COLUMBUS, Ohio—Sherrod Brown’s nascent U.S. Senate campaign has wasted little time raising money, announcing Tuesday it’s hauled in a total of $3.6 million in the first 24 hours since the Columbus-area Democrat announced his candidacy.

The fundraising total, touted in a Brown campaign release, is an unmistakable message from the former senator that he will be able to raise the kind of money needed to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Jon Husted next year.
