On Wednesday at 2:16 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory in effect until Saturday at 8 a.m. for Plymouth and Barnstable counties.

The weather service describes, "Large breaking waves increasing each day, peaking Friday with waves of 4 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone."

"Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion," states the weather service. "Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions."

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
