A man fatally shot by officers on Sunday had just stabbed his 9-year-old son to death, San Jose police said Monday during a news conference
According to police, the shooting happened near Cataldi Park in San Jose's Berryessa neighborhood around 3:25 p.m. Officers were in the area investigating a fatal stabbing when an officer-involved shooting occurred.
Police said the suspect, 48-year-old Mateusz Dzierbun of Fremont, had called 911 to report someone had stabbed his son and the person responsible was on the loose.
Dzierbun described the suspect's clothing as exactly what he was wearing, according to police.
